SimpleStud (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Tidbit mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our App.

By using Tidbit, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.


1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Apple ID Credentials: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple-provided user identifier, email address (which may be a private relay address), and full name (if you choose to share it).
  • Display Name: The name shown in your profile, derived from your Apple ID or set during onboarding.
  • Topic Preferences: The learning topics you select during onboarding.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Learning Progress: Cards read, streaks, bookmarked insights, and saved facts. This data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced to our cloud backend.
  • Device and Usage Data: When ads are served, our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may collect device identifiers, IP address, and interaction data.
  • App Tracking Transparency: We request your permission before any tracking occurs. If you decline, no cross-app tracking data is collected.

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect precise location data.
  • We do not collect contacts, photos, or files from your device.
  • We do not collect health or fitness data.
  • We do not record audio, video, or screen content.
  • We do not collect financial or payment information (purchases are handled entirely by Apple).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the Service: Authenticate your identity, display your profile, track your learning progress, and personalize your content feed.
  • Maintain Streaks and Progress: Track cards read to calculate your learning streak and completion statistics.
  • Display Advertising: Serve ads through Google AdMob to support free access to Tidbit.
  • Improve the App: Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve content and features.

We do not sell your personal information.


3. How We Store Your Information

3.1 Local Storage

Learning progress, topic preferences, streak data, and bookmarks are stored locally on your device. This data is also synced to our cloud backend to persist across devices.

3.2 Cloud Storage

Your authentication credentials and progress data are stored in Supabase, a cloud database service hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

3.3 Data Retention

  • Authentication Data: Retained for as long as your account exists.
  • Local Data: Retained on your device until you sign out or delete the app.
  • Advertising Data: Collected and retained by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not share your learning progress, topic preferences, or bookmarks with any third party.


5. App Tracking Transparency

Tidbit requests your permission via Apple's ATT framework before allowing any cross-app tracking. You can change your preference at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking > Tidbit.


6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Access and Portability

Your learning progress is visible in the App's Profile tab.

6.2 Deletion

  • Local Data: Signing out clears all local progress.
  • Account Deletion: You may delete your account and all associated data from within the app via Profile > Delete Account.

6.3 GDPR Rights (EEA)

If you are in the EEA, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, port, and object to processing of your personal data. Contact us at the email below.

6.4 CCPA Rights (California)

California residents have the right to know, delete, and opt out. We do not sell personal information.


7. Children's Privacy

Tidbit is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.


8. Data Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, including HTTPS/TLS encryption and Apple's cryptographic nonce verification for authentication.


9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.


10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top.
